Vermont Rider Education Program

Motorcycle riding in Vermont is a popular form of recreation and transportation for thousands of residents throughout the Green Mountain State. The Vermont Rider Education Program was established in 1990 to offer motorcycle rider training to anyone who wishes to enjoy the sport of motorcycling. The Program offers instructional courses to make your motorcycling safer and more enjoyable.  Click on the title above to go to the VT Rider Education Program page.

The Vermont Rider Education Program has ended for 2008.

Please check back in March for the 2009 motorcycle training season schedule.

The Basic RiderCourse is for novice riders and those with limited riding experience, as well as riders who haven't ridden for some time.  This 18-hour course, containing a combination of riding exercises and classroom time, teaches the basic skills needed to operate a motorcycle in traffic.

The Intermediate RiderCourse is a one-day course designed for students who have completed the Basic RiderCourse and wish more range practice time on the motorcycle.  Emphasis is placed on the skill needs of the student.

The Experienced RiderCourse - License Waiver is a one-day course designed for riders who do not possess a driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement.  The course includes riding exercises and discussions on motorcycle safety.  Exercises practiced help riders hone their motorcycle skills including emergency braking, swerving, proper cornering techniques and slow speed maneuvers.

The Experienced RiderCourse - Skills Plus is a one-day course designed for riders who are already licensed and frequently ride.  The course includes riding exercises and discussions on motorcycle safety.  Exercises practiced help riders hone their motorcycle skills including emergency braking, swerving, proper corning techniques and slow speed maneuvers.

The RiderCoach Preparation Course teaches experienced riders how to instruct the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Basic RiderCourse curriculum.

Memorial Day Weekend 2009

As a member of the Vermont Chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association I will be attending many of their scheduled rides.  The first 'big' ride of 2009 will be Rolling Thunder XXII over the Memorial Day weekend.  Last year over 700,00 motorcycles attended the event in Washington DC.
Email me for details if you plan to go.

There will also be a one-day ride Memorial Day weekend (Sunday, May 24th) here in Vermont.  That ride is starting at the Sharon Rest Area, (also a "meet-up" at Richmond I-89 Exit 11) then on to Enosburg Falls.

This information will help you properly display your flag(s).

US Flag Only

If only the US Flag is on your bike, it should either be at the center, or to its "marching right" - on the right side of the motorcycle to the rider's perspective when facing forward.

US Flag And One Other Flag Of Any Type

If the US Flag is on your bike with another, it should be to its "marching right" - on the right side of the motorcycle to the rider's perspective. If the other flag is that of another nation, it should be the same size and at the same height of the US Flag - NO flag should ever be displayed higher than the US Flag.

US Flag and 2 other flags of any type

If the US Flag is on your bike with 2 other flags, it should be displayed above and in the center of the other flags.
